GLACIAL FRACTURE
To showcase the negative impact of Global Warming on the Arctic glaciers, I wanted to create an ensemble that utilizes both new technology and various surface design techniques, to ultimately create a piece that would visually stand out, be representative of an important cause, and be seen as wearable to the modern-day woman. This ensemble composes of three pieces: a hand-painted racer-back crop top, a high-low skirt with a laser cut surface design motif, and hand-painted faux alligator skin forearm bracelets with ribbon laces. This ensemble was specifically created for the 33rd Cornell Fashion Collective runway show that was held in March of 2017. This ensemble was also carefully selected by Cornell FSAD faculty to be entered in the 2017 ITAA national competition. All garments were patterned, cut, sewn, hand painted and laser cut by Kaya Middleton.
